Xarelto Lawsuits in Texas
What is Xarelto?
Manufactured by Janssen Pharmaceutical, Xarelto is an anticoagulant (blood
thinner) which has been prescribed to prevent blood clots in patients
suffering from atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), pulmonary embolism
(blood clots in lungs), deep vein thrombosis (blood clots deep within
the body), stroke and patients who have undergone a hip or knee replacement
recently. Janssen Pharmaceutical and Bayer Healthcare (co-marketer) has
failed to properly warn patients and physicians of the increased risks
of fatal internal bleeding when using this product.
What are the Side Effects of Xarelto?
The most serious potential side effect caused by Xarelto is substantial
internal bleeding which can be fatal. Unfortunately, there are no available
options to reverse the type of internal bleeding derived from Xarelto usage.
Other potential injuries caused by the blood thinner include:
- Bleeding in the brain
- Decreased hemoglobin
- Dyspnea (difficulty breathing)
- Hematoma (a mass in the blood)
- Peripheral edema (lower limb swelling)
If you are currently taking Xarelto, it’s imperative to avoid activities
which could lead to getting cut, bruised, or suffering external or internal
bleeding. Call your doctor immediately if you have sustained any of these
injuries and inform him about your Xarelto use. Unfortunately, there has
not been a recall at this time.
